The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says they are investigating a “police-involved” shooting at Toronto Pearson Airport on Thursday morning.
The SIU, which acts as the province’s police watchdog and investigates various incidents such as officer-involved shootings, said their team is being dispatched.
Peel Paramedics said they are “actively responding” to an incident at Toronto Pearson Airport at the airport’s Terminal 1 area. They would not provide further details.

The OPP said Highway 409 to Terminal 1 Departures at the airport is closed “due to a police investigation.” They are asking motorists to avoid the area.
Global News has reached out to Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) responsible for operations at the airport for more information.
A Global News staff member arriving at the airport said they heard what appeared to be the sounds of gunshots and people screaming.
