Some of country music’s biggest stars have joined the chorus of critics against the explosion of those massive data centers. They’re upset about the impact on the environment, resources, and a way of life from big cities to country living. The stars include names like Brad Paisley, Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson, and newcomer Gavin Adcock. Mark Strassmann spoke to Adcock, one of the country’s most outspoken stars. When Gavin Adcock’s strutting on stage, the future of outlaw country music seems as raucous as its past. I’m going to give them everything I got. They’re going to respect me when we get done. Your music, how would you describe it? It’s rambunctious, for sure. I’m a country guy.

Adcock grew up here, on his family’s Georgia cattle farm. Now 27, he’s worried. This state has become America’s premier hub for data centers, even though Americans oppose data centers in their area by more than 2 to 1, according to a recent CBS News poll. And we’re jawing back and forth, and he ends up climbing over the fence. And as soon as he hits the ground, four security guards grab him. And I know if I would have got to a point where I was really mad, it would have been really bad. So if there had been a scrap, how would it have turned out? Not good for him.

Once again, with data centers, Adcock says he wasn’t spoiling for a fight.

Farms get smaller, and they start disappearing left and right for big dollar signs.

Within 60 miles of the Adcock farm, more than 100 data centers are in the works, including this one.

It’s just threatening a way of life that a lot of people grew up and affecting farms and communities. And it bothers me that these could be popping up all over the country.
